Yarn Spinning Unit

 

Yarn Spinning Unit
  • Preparation: Carding, drawing, combing.
  • Spinning: Ring, compact, rotor, open-end systems.
  • Testing: Quickspin-MDTA, fiber length analysis, yarn strength and linear density.
Capabilities:
  • Conventional and compact yarn production.
  • Recycled fiber re-spinning for circularity projects.
  • Yarn property optimization (mechanical, functional).
  • Fiber selection and blending for technical yarns.

Weaving Unit

 

Weaving Unit
  • Looms: Sulzer, Picanol, Dornier (scrap), narrow fabric and jacquard systems (some training-use only), CCI SL8900 Automatic Sample Weaving Loom.
  • Preparation: Warping, sizing, winding.
Capabilities:
  • Fabric structural design (dobby, twill, satin, jacquard limited).
  • Narrow woven functional materials (e.g., conductive ribbons, biomedical tapes).

Knitting Unit

 

Knitting Unit
  • Flat and circular knitting: Shima Seiki, Stoll, Fouquet, Mayer & Cie, Terrot .
  • Pattern design: SDS-ONE APEX, Stoll M1, Mesdan Lab Knitter.
Capabilities:
  • Prototyping smart knitted structures, sensors, and embedded electronics.
  • Seamless garment development (e.g., gloves, compression wear).
  • 3D-knit pattern creation with advanced CAD.
  • Technical and medical knitwear development.

Nonwoven Surfaces Unit

 

Nonwoven Unit
  • Web formation technologies: Needle-punching, meltblown, airlaid, Tafting.
  • Polymer extrusion and functionalization: Twin-screw extruder, coating unit.
  • Recycling line: Mechanical recycling of polymeric/textile waste.
  • Characterization: EM shielding, electrical resistance, balances, oven, mixers.
Capabilities:
  • Nonwoven composites development (filters, geotextiles, etc.).
  • Circular material research with secondary raw materials.
  • Surface functionalization and conductive nonwovens.
  • Electrically functional nonwoven product prototyping.

Apparel Production Unit

 

Apparel Production
  • Full machinery: Chain stitch, lock stitch, buttonhole, ultrasonic sewing.
  • Medical/PPE specialization: Mask shaping, sealing, ultrasonic cutting.
Capabilities:
  • Garment prototyping (woven, knit).
  • Smart textile and e-textile integration.
  • Medical textile production (surgical masks, gowns).
  • Microfactory and automation platform for education.

 

Textile Finishing Unit

 

Wet Processing
  • Machines: HT dyeing, overflow, padder, pad-steam, stenter, coating units.
  • Printing: Inkjet, transfer press.
  • Measurement: Lab balances, IR thermometers, stirrers, pyrolysis furnaces.
Capabilities:
  • Wet processing and colorfastness optimization.
  • Smart textile finishing via thermochemical methods.
  • Biopolymer coatings and new dye testing.
  • Eco-friendly dyeing aligned with EU Green Deal.
