Project Overview
The EU textile and fashion sector needs to transform into a sustainable system. All stakeholders must comply with EU regulations and engage at local and global scales. The TexUnite project promotes the key competencies required to achieve sustainability goals by introducing Service Learning in textile and fashion education through project-based seminars.
The advanced training module enables teaching staff to implement Service-Learning projects through active participation in the Sustainable Textile Laboratory (SusTexLab).
About the Project
TexUnite is developing an online advanced training seminar for higher education with digitally enhanced teaching and learning arrangements to implement sustainability-oriented service-learning project seminars with external partners. To enable intercultural exchange among six European partner universities, we will use the Virtual Exchange method that combines digitalization and sustainability. All resources will be provided as Open Educational Resources (OER).
The integration of Service Learning into a curriculum promotes democratic values and awareness and guides university teachers, students, and external partners in developing critical thinking, reflecting on textile production and fashion consumption, and strengthening cooperation and social skills.
Work Packages
Sustainable Textile Laboratory (SusTexLab) Development and implementation of an online training seminar including teaching and learning arrangements for implementing sustainable service-learning projects with students and enabling intercultural exchange using the Virtual Exchange method.
Service-Learning Projects Development, implementation, and evaluation of service-learning projects at the partner universities. Based on SusTexLab, partners for service-learning projects—such as NGOs, municipalities, or sustainability-oriented companies—are approached and integrated into international tandems through Virtual Exchange.
Open Educational Resources (OER) Development of OER for the ZOERR open access repository based on teaching and learning materials from SusTexLab and SL projects, and presentation of the project on the European platform EPALE.
